The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a knowledge-based introduction to teaching and/or training that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching sessions and how to assess and give constructive feedback. The Level 3 course is not a teaching qualification. There is no teaching/training practice required for the course so it may be undertaken by candidates who are not currently in a teaching role.
The course is suitable for candidates who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector, for candidates who are not in a teaching/training role, or who have just started a teaching/training role and for candidates who want a short qualification to enable them to make career choices.
Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners. The qualification can help you to progress in teaching/training and support roles in a wide range of organisations in the lifelong learning sector. These include:
· Public sector organisations
Private sector organisations
· Further Education
· Adult and Community Education
The course requires a reasonable level of language, literacy and numeracy. Candidates are required to have evidence of level 3 vocational skills for the area in which they will teach/train if they are to progress into teaching in the further education and skills sector.
You should be aware that if you wish to progress to Level 5 and become a teaching professional you will need to be qualified to Level 2 in both Maths and English.
